Includes correspondence, 1779-1802, of Lewis Littlepage with John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, the Marquis de Lafayette, John Jacob Sievers, Stanislas II, King of Poland, and others; notes and drawings for battles in various European conflicts in which he was a participant; estate papers; and letters about Littlepage. Also include correspondence, account books and loose accounts of Joseph Holladay (d. 1795) as tobacco inspector at Fredericksburg, Va., 1763- 1776; and accounts and account books kept at "Elmwood," Spotsylvania County, Va. Also include papers of Lewis Holladay (1751-1820) of "Bellefonte," Spotsylvania County, Va., consisting of correspondence, 1786- 1819; account books, 1781-1818, and loose accounts, 1772-1820, in part concerning horse breeding; accounts kept as Overseer of the Poor for Spotsylvania County, Va., 1784-1800; miscellaneous papers of the 16th Infantry Regiment, Virginia Militia, 1788-1809; slave lists, 1800-1817; and estate papers. Also include papers of Waller Holladay (1776-1860) of "Prospect Hill," Spotsylvania County, Va., consisting of correspondence, 1798-1859, concerning state and local politics, gold mining in Louisa County, Va., and a planned slave insurrection, 1815. Among the correspondents is Albert Lewis Holladay while a missionary in Persia (now Iran). Also include account books, 1801-1860 (10 v.), chiefly concerning agricultural operations at "Prospect Hill"; loose accounts, 1798-1860; minutes kept as Overseer of the Poor for Spotsylvania County; and slave lists, 1845-1860. Also include papers of James Minor Holladay (1823-1891), including diaries, 1846-1847 and 1857, of farming operations at "Sunning Hill," Louisa County, Va.
